Hurry, Slowly

good morning
afternoon
evening
depending on the way you choose
to chop up your days

my name is natalie witt
i am a self-indulged writer
photographer
student
idiot savant
shameless advertiser
human being
even zombie
i can divide myself generously
into many categories

i thrive on conversation
freeform thought
the angles of opinions and views
there is always so much to offer
by everyone, to everyone
and sadly, there are those of you who believe there to be
too little to be reaped

such a thing does not exist

anyway, onward ... i'm not quite sure what i will post here yet
may be images, blogs
links, rants
but be sure i will incorporate parts of my days
my thoughts, my fears, my disgusts
my journies and myself into this page

at times, it will seem like nothing
or read as very little
but during those times one should always remember
to remember thus:

gutta cavat lapidem non vi sed saepe cadendo

a water drop hollows a stone not by force, but by falling
often

feel free to look me up on

An Excerpt From “The Devil Came On Horseback” Regarding Darfurian Civilian Displacement Crisis During 2004

“By This Time, Estimates Of Those Displaced Ranged Around 2 Million. That Would Mean That There Would Have To Be Fifteen More Camps Of This Size Somewhere In Darfur. The Shear Scale Of The Crisis Shocked Me. How Could This Get So Massive So Quickly? This Was A Catastrophe Caused By People, Not Natural Disaster. The Indian Ocean Tsunami Of December 2004 Got 24-7 Cable News Coverage In The US And Around The World. I Wondered What Kind Of Coverage The Conflict In Darfur Was Getting On TV Back Home. Did People Know That Places Like This Existed?” - Brian Steidle

Reports Of “Ethnic Cleansing” Have Been Reported In This Region And Others In Africa Since 1950 And Even Before This Time. Even In 2005, Have A Century After Such Atrocities Had Been Commited, The US Still Refused To Use The Word “Genocide” To Describe The Conflict. UN Funding And Food Aide Have Been Severely Cut In The Last Couple Years, And The US Has Still Failed To Pay More Than A Third Of It’s Promised Aide To South Africa As Agreed Through A United Nations Order In 2005. Reports And Images, Live Accounts Are Out There For Everyone To See, And Yet So Little Is Considered By “Us” On This Global Issue.

Something Else To Consider. When Countries In Which We Provide Aide And Relief Refuse Our Help Openly, Why Does The US Then Refuse To Pull That Unwanted Aide And Send It To A Ravaged Area Of The World Where Many Are Still Hopeful And Crying Out For Our Help?
